What to do with William Lane Craig?
WLC is a renowned Christian Apologist whose field of expertise is in the world of Philosophy.
Atheists are on the run from this guy. He has most of them quaking in their boots at the thought of squaring off with him intellectually.
But is he a good representative of Biblical truth?
Increasingly, I believe the answer has to be no.
Dr. Craig has embraced a number of ideas that provide him with philosophically strong arguing points (albeit not as strong as those given us from Scripture) but which do not represent the truth of Scripture and which limit or even damage men’s perception of the glory of God.
Key components of Dr. Craig’s philosophy are shaped by his adherence to Molinism or the theory of “middle knowledge” that limits God’s omniscience and sovereignty over His creation.
Dr. James White has provided the best coverage of the issues and has responded thoughtfully to Dr. Craig’s representation of God and Christianity in his Dividing Line podcasts and on the AOmin.org blog. Below are links to several relevant presentations addressing the issues with Dr. Craig’s philosophical worldview (in contrast to a biblical Christian worldview) and to Molinism in particular:
*Disclaimer: this post is not trying to say that Dr. Craig has not contributed to the field of Christian apologetics, but is an admonishment other believers to exercise good Berean-like discernment when examining the arguments put forth by Dr. Craig. And please, LISTEN TO THE PROGRAMS before you reply to this.
